'Liverpool Leather' by any other name is the former 'Southbeach Leather' (the new namesake may or may not acknowlege this) and has been the subject (both positive and negative) in previous BLUF 'Forums'. They're primarily an Internet Vendor. Most of their merchandise originates in India/Pakistan (and at one time from South America). I've personally purchased a number of items from them (as 'Southbeach Leather') and while arguably not being the best quality my purchases have been satisfactory at best and adequate at the least. This Vendor in most instances uses two different types of leather - cowhide and lamb. I personally prefer the cowhide - it's a bit heavier (much better for 'play scenes') and much more durable. The lamb, on the other hand is much more flexible but is subject to premature wear and damage under stress. In most of their offerings, the option (usually at no additonal charge) is to line the garments (leather lining is also an option, but at additional cost) - and I've always done this for added strength and protection. My main complaint with this Vendor is the quality of zippers they've used - made of a very low-grade aluminum, they're flimsy and prone to failure. In a few cases, I've found problems with the stitching - but this is easily repaired by any competent tailor who can repair/alter leather goods. As with most new leather, I've found it beneficial to immediatly 'treat' the hides - I use saddle soap and leather creams for this (never use anything on any garments of this type which contain alcohol or petrol-chemical products - as well as drying out the hides, the seamwork can be damaged). In the past, some have experienced difficulties in communications with the prior namesake. I strongly recommend purchasing merchandise in this price range through PayPal for added protection. In addition, at one time the prior Vendor was offering BLUF Members a discount - this may not be the case with the new namesake. If you purchased merchandise from them previously and indicate this, they often times extended a discounted price as a 'preferred customer' - the new namesake may or may not do this. As I recommend with any Internet purchase of this type of merchandise, make sure the Vendor acknowledges your complete order per your specifications and request in writing and verify their return policies prior to making any purchase. Print out all correspondence and auction listings which occur. Upon receipt of your merchandise, fully inspect it at once and immediately follow up with the Vendor in writing of any non-satisfactory items you've found. As the old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for' - and this Vendor's merchandise will never be mistaken for that of Mr. S., Langlitz, Vanson, Rob, VK79, etc. - but with knowledge and following a few rules it can prove to be an 'acceptable' alternative at much less cost.

An alternative to Liverpol Leather is www.leathermaniacs.de we have found their quality to be great and prices good as well.

Proffessional service and a pleasure to deal with.
