OK guys...I'm getting ready to move beyond my leather and rubber gear and take the plunge and order my first uniform. Langlitz right? Right!

So help me out. I'm leaning toward a pair of Rangers and a padded pocket Columbia. What else do I need to know?

Thanks for the help and I can't wait to show it off!

Congrats on taking the plung you won't regret it.

What else do you need to know? What kind of stuff were you thinking about?

The questions I had when I ordered were -

What weight of leather, consenus was medium
What "fit", consenus was snug but they do mean snug! I find that's fine for me but I won't get anything under it but a shirt.

Becareful with measurements particularly TAKE YOU MEASUREMENTS OVER WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO WEAR. That's hard when you are ordering rangers to go under your jacket. The issue I have is the heavy trouser belt I want to wear adds quite a bit to my waist measurement that I didn't entirely take into account but I don't mind suffering a bit! Also a Columbia is a short jacket, so make sure you measure up for where you want youtr jacket and breeches to overlap. If you measure on Levis 501s or hipster style leather pants you might find them sitting too low and getting the "two belt on display" effect where your trouser belt is not covered by your jacket belt. Fine if that's what you want but get it wrong and your jacket will ride up as it sits over your trouser belt.

Leaon advised me about different ways to wear a duty belt which should still be in the forum somewhere. Basically you can have a duty belt on your jacket, on your trousers or on your hips. Make sure you take your choice into account.

If you have any specific questions about measurements or optiobs email or phone Dave or Scott, they couldn't be nicer guys and were very patient with me. I specificaly said not to build the jacket for riding on a bike. So there is less added space in the back/shoulders and arm length as I'm not crouching and reaching foreard to handle bars.

Think about eppaulettes. Do you want them? They are an option on a padded columbia but I am very glad I ordered them and with snap attachments.

If there was anything more specific ask away.

I'm looking over the catalog and getting measured this weekend.

I'll be ordering the Padded Pocket Columbia and a pair of Rangers. I'll be going with snug and medium weight. I should get the Sam Browne belt right? My other question is about the 2" belt on the Rangers. Will that work with the Sam Browne. And finally leg stripes...yellow or red?

Am I missing anything else?

Thanks,

m

Padded Columbia comes with a Sam Browne (but no shoulder strap), you need to add epaulettes on the options if you want them on a padded. If you go for the rangers with a belt then make sure you measure your jacket with that in mind, if you want the jacket to extend below the trouser belt then you need to think where the trouser belt will be. Also be ware that with that number of leather layers and belts your middle is going to be quite bulky. Other option is to end the jacket before the trouser belt, some guys I've seen with that, personal choice but I think it can look a bit odd as you will have both belts visible and the jacket if snug in your waist will tend to ride up on the trouser belt. I don't tend to wear a trouser belt ot if I do keep it less bulky with the jacket just going over it.

Stripes are a personal thing. If you are just going for a colour you klike fair enough but be careful flagging sexual interests through your stripe colour;-)

Scott at Langlitz just asked me the following....

Did you want any zippered pockets on your Rangers?
Also, do you want your stripes to be any particular width? ¾" ? 1"?

Thoughts?
